And the Pattern Pyramid winner is….. Jessie of imake2. Your parcel is on its way!
In other news, I made a Colette Hazel this week. I had a feeling that the skirt wouldn’t suit me – and yes, the muslin made my bottom half look twice the size of my top! So I used the pattern to remake a dress which has been in a drawer for 2 years because I couldn’t get the bodice to fit. I can’t remember which pattern this was, but it had an A-line skirt, gathered at the front.
I think it worked well. It’s kept the comfortable cool feel of the Hazel, but suits my shape much better.
I cut a size 10 bodice, then the skirt pieces measured –
Front: 64cm wide at the top, 91 cm at the bottom
Back (2 pieces): 24cm at the top, 41cm at the bottom, with the centre vertical edges straight.
The front is gathered, but the back has no shaping at all.
Excuse my giant arm – some work is needed on that pose! I used a burgundy cotton for the pockets. The fabric is a vintage cotton.
It’s very difficult to see any detail in this print, but I’ll definitely make it again in something that shows off the lovely seams.
What a lovely way to make Hazel work for you! It’s stunning. Enjoy. g
Is that leopard print? The shape of the dress looks perfect! Nice work
It’s daisies, or possibly sunflowers. But I like the thought of leopard print!
What a pretty dress. I’m pleased you’ve managed to make it work for you.
What a beautiful Hazel. Looks great on you!!! The burgundy pockets are a great touch. Love it!!
Love your hazel….great fabric choice and it look a great fit….really sweet
I really like the skirt modification; I would totally make another with this as well!
