The ‘add 8 inches’ skirt – Vogue 1247

Mr Doodle named this the add-8-inches skirt, because that’s what most people seem to do – that pattern is short!

It’s a beautiful skirt pattern though, and I love the pockets.  I picked up the fabric at a vintage fair a couple of years ago.  It’s a heavy cotton batik.  The pattern hides the seam and pocket details, so I’m planning to make this in grey wool for the winter to show them off.

I didn’t know what Hong Kong seams were a few weeks ago, and now look!  Very pleased with these, especially because I don’t like lining things.  I’m not really sure when I should line clothes, except when they’re see-through.  What do you think?  I’m sure I’ll learn the hard way!!

I’m posing in the entrance to Mr Doodle’s office – the thumb print decal is from Circle Line Studio on etsy.  Doesn’t it look great?  And very easy to put up.
